Sand Blasting Cabinet Details

Sand blasting cabinet is another type of sand blasting machine which has a cabinet and is a closed or enclosed form of the machine. In that closed part blasting of contaminants as well as recycling of abrasive media takes place. There are several other functions which are included like cleaning, recycling as well as the collection of dust materials too. In this sand blasting cabinet system, there is a window from where the operator can see what is going on in the process; there is an opening gate from where the blasting material or blasting surface is kept inside the sand blasting cabinet.

Industrial sandblast cabinet systems are of two types according to their sizes: small sand blasting cabinet and large sand blasting cabinet.

The small sand blasting cabinet is used for turbochargers, small automobile components, molds, dies, etc. whereas a large sand blasting cabinet is used for big and large components as castings, plates, fabricated parts, etc.

As sand is used as the abrasive media in the blasting process thus to avoid visibility dust collectors or dust extractors are even connected with the enclosed sandblaster cabinet. In the sand blasting cabinet, the operator does not require any safety gadgets like a safety suit, mask or helmet, shoes, etc.

As the whole process is performed inside the cabinet. This makes eco-friendly, cost-effective, and pollution-free environments, so it is also called a dustless blasting cabinet and Industrial sandblast cabinet system. In cyclone sandblast cabinet dust collector is used called a cyclone. Sand blasting cabinet dust extractor or collector are many types of fabric bag dust collector, reverse pulse jet pleated filter dust collector, cyclone type dust extractor sand blasting cabinet for sale and service offices in all cities in India so that we fulfill the demands of customers at a given time.

Types of Sand Blasting Cabinet

There are three types of Industrial sand blasting cabinet systems which can be listed as follows:

  • Wet Blasting Cabinet
  • Pressure Blasting Cabinet
  • Suction Blasting Cabinet

Wet Blasting Cabinet

The wet abrasive sand blasting cabinet or commonly known as Wet Blasting Cabinet uses a seal-less slurry pump to convert the abrasive media and water into a slurry mixture. This slurry mixture is then transferred or pumped directly to the abrasive blast gun where compressed air pressure moves the mixture with the desired pressure rating.

The Exhaust Blower filter maintains a negative cabinet pressure that prevents the cabinet fog from escaping during the blasting process. During the process, freshwater is rinsed out on the window after a fixed interval of time which provides continuous operator visibility through the operator view window. Light enters the cabinet through the sight window located on top of the unit/cabinet. No pre-cleaning, a dust-free finish and reduces abrasive impregnation risk +because detergents are simply added to the wet-blasting slurry.

Advantages of wet abrasive blasting are as follows:

  • The full-width window for the operator’s view, with a screen wiper and washing facility.
  • Safe and single footswitch operation for the easy controlling of the machine.
  • No dust is involved in the process.
  • Reduce the risk of abrasive insertion.
  • Fine abrasive media can be used as slurry is being formed.
  • Easy maintenance because of the quick-release pump design.

Applications of wet abrasive blasting are as follows:

  • Burr removal and cleaning without damage to the object surface of the subject.
  • Surface preparation for hard chrome coatings, bonding composites, and tin and other tool coatings.
  • Etch and smooth glass for decorative or functional purposes in houses, hotels, etc.
  • Peen objects surface for a bright, clean appearance.
  • Clean plastic molds.
  • Hole cleaning in printed circuit boards (PCBs).

Pressure Blasting Cabinet

Pressure Blasting is work on the Direct Pressure principle of blasting. It uses a pressurized vessel or "blast pot" that holds the abrasive media. In a pressure blast cabinet, the air pressure in the vessel and in the "pusher" line is maintained to be the same. This means that there is no pressure differential between the blast pot and the blast line this allows the abrasive media to meter into the airstream at the blast container and then move the blast hose or pipe out to the nozzle. Pressure blasting cabinet abrasive equipment has a single hose running to the blast nozzle. A sandblaster dust collector is connected with a pressure blasting cabinet.

Designed specifically for high throughput and demanding applications. It provides advanced features to ensure efficient operation or working and maximum operator comfort while using a Pressure Blasting Cabinet.

Advantages of Pressure Blasting Cabinet

  • Strong Production – The most significant advantage of a pressure-fed blast cabinet is that it cleans a product surface 3–4 times faster.
  • Better Cleaning Ability — Because a pressure blast cabinet uses more power to deliver media, it can clean objects with more surface contamination.
  • Can be Utilized with Metallic Media — In some applications, metallic media are necessary to obtain the desired surface profile, and if this is the case, a pressure blast cabinet is generally recommended.

Suction Blasting Cabinet

Suction Blasting Cabinet is based on the Injection Suction principle of the blasting system. It works on the Venturi principle to get abrasive media from a non-pressurized storage hopper or tank to the blast gun where it is mixed with the compressed air stream and propelled against the work blasting surface. Suction blast machines or suction blasting cabinets are most easily recognized by having two hoses (one for air and one for abrasive media) running to the blast gun.

When we are working with a suction-blast gun, it is easy to recognize, because it has two pipes also known as hoses attached to it, one providing compressed air and one vacuum pipe (abrasive blasting hose) taking media into the gun. Pressure-blast nozzles have only one larger hose to deliver a mixture of media particles and compressed air.

Suction sand blasting cabinet features are as follows:

  • Suction blast cabinets are of lower cost.
  • it has far fewer moving parts and valves than a pressure abrasive blast unit, therefore, more easy maintenance and troubleshooting are possible.
  • Less air and abrasive consumption are there in suction abrasive blast gun as its air demand is governed by the abrasive air jet, which is almost half the size the same as the sand blast nozzle diameter.

Continuous blasting is possible in a suction blasting cabinet because we need not refill the abrasive media containing hopper again and again in this.

Buyer Questions

Common questions about Sand Blasting Cabinet.

Buyer questions related to sand blasting cabinet, specifications, application, price, and machine selection.

Are glass beads safe for sandblasting?
In comparison to other blasting procedures, it is a safe procedure. Sand blasting can be replaced with glass bead blasting. The procedure is safe for the environment.
What is the difference between sandblasting and shot blasting?
The medium used is one of the primary distinctions between shot blasting and sand blasting. Almost exclusively, shot-blasting employs abrasive "shot" made of metal, such as aluminium oxide or carbon grit. Sandblasting can use metallic shot, but it is more commonly used with gentler abrasives like organic media or glass.
Can you use glass beads in a sandblaster?
In a sandblast cabinet, glass beads are commonly utilized. It performs nicely in a suction feed sandblast cabinet because it is not a particularly heavy blast media. Although it is uncommon to use glass beads with a basic sandblast pot, you can smash glass with a standard sandblast pot.
What's the difference between sandblasting and bead blasting?
Bead blasting is comparable to sandblasting, but it uses considerably less air pressure, making it a much slower and gentler procedure. When inflicting any harm to the metal is a worry, it's ideal for stripping it clean.
What is glass bead blasting?
One type of shot blasting is bead blasting. Fine glass beads are released at high pressure in this method to clean or polish a surface. A bead blaster fires bead-shaped media from a high-pressured instrument at the material's surface in this procedure.
