Application
A large variety of rotating and moving parts from various machines are recovered and re-engineered using flame spray guns with metalizing wire such as zinc wire, babbitt wire, molybdenum wire, aluminum wire, etc.
Gate and ball valves, rock drilling bits, and downhole tools for the oil and gas and petrochemical industries use a thermal spray gun for their new components that profit from the improved surface qualities.
Industries that use flame spray guns include those that use pumps, valves, printing presses, electric motors, paper-making machines, chemical plants, food machinery, mining and quarrying equipment, ships, and many more.
Product Details
Flame spraying uses Aluminum flame spray gun parts for coating. A thermal spray process variation in which the controlled explosion of a mixture of fuel gas, oxygen, and the powdered coating material is utilized to melt and propel the material to the workpiece. It includes low-velocity powder, red, and wire flame coating processes and high-velocity processes.
The Powder Flame Spray Process involves spraying molten metals such as zinc, copper, and aluminum on a surface to provide a coating. If Zinc is sprayed, the spray gun is named Zinc Spray Gun; if Copper is sprayed, the spray gun is called Copper Spray Gun; and if Aluminum is sprayed, the spray gun is called Aluminum Spray Gun. Depending on the purpose, the molten material can be in wire or powder form. Coating wire or powder is melted in a cannon and atomized with compressed air before being applied to a surface. On the surface of the substrate, the molten metal drops solidify.
Wire, Rod Flame Spray Gun
This process is “a spray process in which the feedstock is in the form of a wire or rod” or a cord. It was the very first spray process, developed by Dr. Schoop in 1912. The setup consists of a nozzle in which acetylene is mixed with oxygen and burned at the sand blasting nozzle face, the flame extending into an air cap. The wire, rod, or cord is fed axially and continuously at a velocity such that the tip is melted in the Flame Spray Coating.
Flame Sprayed Aluminum Coating is a stream of compressed air, surrounding the flame, that atomizes and generates material droplets in a continuous stream.
The advantage of the Aluminum Flame Spray Technology system is that only molten droplets are propelled towards the substrate. If the material is fed at too high a velocity the wire (rod or cord) comes out of the gun cap.
What is Flame Spray?
Flame spraying is most commonly used to apply abrasion-resistant coatings or nickel/chrome self-fluxing alloys, which are then heat-treated to metallurgically attach them to the substrate (Fused coatings).
In compressors, abrasion-resistant coatings are employed for machine element clearance.
Fused coatings are widely utilized in high-wear sectors like mining and the steel industry to protect roll, piston, and other equipment from wearing out in harsh environments.
A Flame Spray cannon creates a flame with oxygen and fuel gasses into which powder is shot. To create the coating, the molten powder particles are projected onto the work item.
Many of the coatings sprayed using this method are then heat-treated at roughly 1000 degrees Fahrenheit to 'fuse' them to the substrate surface.
Features of Flame Spray Gun
Mounting stand: for machine mounted operation.
Rugged, built-in wire snubber: prevents wire from accidentally being pulled out of the gun.
Flexible hardware choices that allow the gun to be configured for use with hard and soft wires in a variety of diameters.
Choice of fuel gasses to suit plant operational requirements and economics.
Thumb-operated wire feed control provides simple wire feed start and stop.
Wire drive feeds wire reliably, consistently and uniformly, regardless of fluctuations in air pressure.
Metric threading: all standard nuts, screws and mating parts are supplied with metric threads, facilitating replacement where metric is used as the standard system of measurement.
Flame Spray Equipment
This is an oxygen-propane-fueled flame spray technology that produces unrivaled corrosion-resistant coatings. The 'FS' stands for Free-Standing, as the new control board can be wall-mounted or free-standing.
The lightweight, well-balanced, and durable pistol has the fastest spray rates on the market, which saves you time and money. Continuous spray systems are available, as well as systems with a unique stop/start mechanism that allows the operator to cease spraying while keeping the flame blazing without causing damage to the gun.
It is more durable and provides additional protection for the flowmeter and the ARF device. It can be placed on the wall or left free-standing on the floor. The hose flow is more orderly than in the prior unit.
Features of Flame Spray Equipment
Fastest pistols on the market (continuous zinc up to 50kg/hr)
The stop/start version allows the operator to turn off the spraying while keeping the flame blazing (e.g., whilst inspecting or moving the work piece)
Hoses come in a variety of lengths to suit any application.
Wire diameters are available in a variety of shapes and sizes to meet the needs of a variety of applications and coatings.
To allow detail work or wider areas to be sprayed efficiently, there are spreader and non-spreader versions.
Control panel, new, free-standing or wall-mounted
Shut-off valve for safety
For lengthy supply configurations, an optional panel mounted oxygen regulator is available.
Controllable wire speed
Anti-corrosion wires, as well as some steels, copper, and bronzes, are all suitable.
The two-stage air cap provides the best lighting and spraying conditions.
For ease of handling, rugged construction is paired with low weight and balance.
Hanging hook for temporary storage or spring balance connection
Flow meters for parameter optimization and fault detection
Large pointers are included on flow meters to make checking from a distance easier.
Optional deflection extensions for access to difficult to spray regions are supplied by the Air Regulator and Filter (A.R.F.) unit.
