Applications of Shot Blasting Cabinet

  • Sand-molds are frequently used to make smaller auto parts like bell housings and stabilising bars, allowing for the use of shot-blasting cabinets to clean the surfaces prior to further processing.
  • Many small metal castings can be simultaneously cleaned of surface sand using a shot-blasting cabinet.
  • The optimal time to use shot-blasting in foundries is during post-production.
  • Before metal is processed, corrosion and rust can be removed with a shot blasting cabinet. It can also be employed at the end of the operation to give the metal a flawless surface.

Shot Blasting Cabinet Details

Shot Blasting Cabinet is a cabinet consisting of many elements useful for Shot Blasting the substrate surface. Shot Blasting Machine is a process in which blasting abrasives is Steel Shots. It is a cabinet having all one characteristic. We use this cabinet only for abrasives like 30/60 mesh, steel grit, aluminum grit, copper slag, etc. That is used for blasting on the surface of the substrate. Shot Blasting Cabinet reduces the requirement of safety equipment because the cabinet protects the operator from the micro particles of abrasive.

Working of Shot Blasting Cabinet

Shot Blasting Cabinet is Work on the blasting principle, the pressure blaster generates high abrasive velocity, resulting in faster cleaning of the job. A pressure vessel directly bolted beneath the cabinet's hopper has an automatic abrasive media refilling arrangement. As a standard feature, a tubular fabric bag type dust collector with a large filter area is attached to the cabinet for high dust collection efficiency. For bag shaking, a manual shaker dust collector is also provided.

It is recommended for quick cleaning, removing heavy rust and corrosion with coarse abrasives, and etching the surface required for thermal spaying. The blast pressure can be adjusted from 30 to 90 psig. Depending on the application, almost any coarse or medium abrasive alike steel shots, stainless steel shot, cut wire shot, mild steel shot, copper slag, Aluminum oxide, etc can be used.

It is mostly a closed system that allows the operator to blast the part and recycle the abrasives, This mostly consists of four components; the shot blasting cabinet, the abrasive blasting system, the dust collector, and the grit recovery & recycling system.

Operators can perform their operations from outside of the cabinet. Operators by placing their arms in shot blasting cabinet gloves attached to holes on the cabinet, viewing the part through a vision glass, Footswitch are used to turn the blast operation on and off.

Rust, paint stains and other flaws in things are removed with abrasive blasting. Rims, machine parts, and parts of cars and motorbikes are all blasted in a large shot blasting cabinet. We're also seeing more and more blast cabinets being utilized to finish 3D printed objects. shot blasting cabinet for alloy wheels can be used to generate surface structures, matting effects, and even graphics on an object. This is done on glass or stainless steel products, for example. Local processing can also be done in a blasting cabinet. After that, the remainder of the object must be taped or masked. Blasting is commonly used in the thermal spray gun coating business to roughen the product's surface in order to obtain better adherence or anchor pattern for the coating.

Types of Shot Blasting Cabinet

Mainly there are 3 types of shot blasting cabinet:

Pressure Shot blasting Cabinet- In the pressure blasting cabinet the abrasives are stored in the sealed pressure vessel. The pressure vessel is pressurized to the same pressure as the hose attached to the bottom of the pressure vessel. The abrasives are metered into the hose and transferred by the compressed air through the shot blasting nozzle.

Suction Blasting Cabinet- A Suction blasting cabinet is working with compressed air to create a vacuum in the Y gun. The negative pressure sucks the abrasives into the blasting Y gun where the compressed air directs the abrasives through a sand blasting nozzle. The abrasive mixture is transferred through a nozzle that directs the particles toward the component surface.

Wet Blasting Cabinet- Our Wet blasting cabinet is using a system that injects the abrasive & water slurry into a compressed air stream. A wet blasting cabinet is commonly used when the heat developed by interference in dry blasting would damage the part. Wet Blasting Cabinet regularly used in oil and grease removed from components, good finish development on stainless steel, etc.

Advantages of Shot Blasting Cabinet

  • The Full-width window for the operator’s view, with a screen wiper and washing facility.
  • Safe and single footswitch operation for the easy controlling of the machine.
  • No dust is involved in the process.
  • Reduce the risk of abrasive insertion.
  • Fine abrasive media can be used as slurry is being formed.
  • Easy maintenance because of the quick-release pump design.

Buyer Questions

Common questions about Shot Blasting Cabinet.

Buyer questions related to shot blasting cabinet, specifications, application, price, and machine selection.

What is glass bead blasting?
One type of shot blasting is bead blasting. Fine glass beads are released at high pressure in this method to clean or polish a surface. A bead blaster fires bead-shaped media from a high-pressured instrument at the material's surface in this procedure.
What is the purpose of shot blasting?
Shot blasting is a technique for obtaining excellent cleaning and surface preparation for secondary finishing operations. Shot blasting is commonly used for: Cleaning iron, steel, non-cast parts, forgings, and so on. Mechanical cleaning of sheets, rods, coils, wire, and so on.
Why is our shot blasting machine used?
Our Shot Blasting Machine can be used to remove corrosion and rust before processing metal, or it can be used at the end to give the metal a perfect finish. As previously stated, shot-blasting a surface will also aid in the painting process.
What is a shot blasting machine?
A shot blasting machine is a surface preparation machine that uses blasting turbines to accelerate and throw steel grits/steel shots on the surface of a material object.
What is the difference between sandblasting and shot blasting?
The medium used is one of the primary distinctions between shot blasting and sand blasting. Almost exclusively, shot-blasting employs abrasive "shot" made of metal, such as aluminium oxide or carbon grit. Sandblasting can use metallic shot, but it is more commonly used with gentler abrasives like organic media or glass.
